Delivering Impactful Results Through Design-Driven Strategy
I’ve built design teams that drove an 87% growth in new customers and a 43% increase in customer satisfaction for Amazon, delivered a 78% decrease in time to launch global campaigns for Publicis, implemented solutions to map 1,720+ retail stores, crafted inventory processes and tools to address a revenue loss of $6bn per year for Lowe’s. I have experience launching products at scale that positively impact customers worldwide.
Experienced Design Leader & Strategist
My career began in a small town, working for my grandfather’s monument business when I was 12. My first job involved laying tombstones in cemeteries and by 16, I had advanced to typesetting and etching portraits into granite with a diamond-tipped drill—crafts that sparked a passion for creativity that still drives me today.
Over the past 35 years, I’ve honed my knowledge and skills across multiple industries and roles, including advertising, marketing, project management, development, user-centered practices, research, and design-led thinking. I’ve built and led teams that crafted impactful, multi-platform solutions, delivering measurable results for Fortune 50 brands while implementing complex initiatives at scale.
Currently, I lead the Design team at Provenir, where I help drive innovation across their AI-powered Decisioning platform. My role focuses on leading digital transformation across our suite of products and tools, crafting intuitive experiences that empower users and partners to facilitate transactions and mitigate operational risks.
Before joining Provenir, I built and led cross-functional teams and launched well-known products at scale, reaching millions of users worldwide. I’ve crafted solutions for top-tier brands such as Lowe’s, Amazon, the Department of Defense, ADP, Publicis Groupe, Coca-Cola, and more. At American Tire Distributors (ATD), I led the UX, Creative, and Digital Operations teams, spearheading digital transformation across a diverse suite of products and tools. Our work empowered dealers and partners to better understand their businesses, boost conversion rates, streamline shipping and supply chain processes, and reduce operational risks.
At Lowe’s, I led a team and developed solutions to map 1,720+ stores and developed inventory tools to address an annual revenue loss of $6 Billion caused by misplaced inventory. At Amazon, I spearheaded the redesign of the world’s largest online subscription delivery service, achieving a 52% increase in new subscriptions and an 87% boost in customer acquisition. I also contributed to key programs like Amazon Mom, Amazon Baby, and Coupons. Additionally, I’ve designed core experiences for large-scale e-commerce and mobile platforms, created multi-platform design systems, and played a critical role in shaping Amazon’s Human Interface Guidelines.
From defining and championing a core mission to creating and launching impactful solutions through design thinking, I specialize in helping teams unlock their full creative potential.
I also like strawberry daiquiris and for people to give me money. I figure most people don’t read these anyways so what the hell, it’s worth a try.

Designing for Impact at Scale
Every great product begins with a clear mission and purpose. I focus on crafting strong foundations, structuring efficient teams, and defining strategies that empower creative potential. By fostering a collaborative and positive atmosphere, I enable my teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences that drive measurable results.
This approach has led to meaningful outcomes for both businesses and customers, combining strategic vision with impactful execution. Whether it’s designing at scale, leading digital transformation, or crafting innovative solutions, I prioritize delivering long-term success through thoughtful design and leadership.
Empowering Teams, Building Futures
Throughout my career, I’ve led, coached, and mentored multi-disciplinary teams of designers, researchers, content strategists, and developers. Beyond the creative process, I’ve built strategic plans for team growth, including hiring practices, mentoring programs, coaching frameworks, and formalized internal best practices.
Grounded by diverse experiences—from my early days in a small-town monument business to earning a Master’s in Human-Centered Design & Engineering from the University of Washington—I bring a collaborative spirit, a desire for growth, and a passion for tackling complex challenges. My goal is always the same: to empower teams and create solutions that address real human problems.

“I worked with Michael organizing design community events at Amazon and was struck by his hard-working, detail-oriented, not to mention extremely organized, way of doing things. Mike’s always willing to roll up his sleeves when no one else is to get the job done… all while somehow maintaining one of the most positive attitudes I’ve ever come across. A joy to work with, Mike would be a great addition to any team.”
